When upgrading from Top Secret r15 to Top Secret r16, can you use the same:
1) BDAM and VSAM security files?
2) BDAM and VSAM backup security files?
3) Parameter file?
4) Recovery file?
5) Audit and Tracking file?
Do you have to create mirror security files (BDAM and VSAM)? (These were not defined in Top Secret r15.)
Release : 16.0
Component : Top Secret for z/OS
1) For the Top Secret r15 BDAM and VSAM security files: the current Top Secret r16.0 features that would alter the security file format and, therefore, require new security files (BDAM and VSAM) are:
- Increased User Record Size (ACID) to 1024K
Requires TSSMAINT/TSSXTEND
- AES 256-Bit Password Encryption
- Store FACILITY Parameters On Security File (This will actually not be a problem but, if you are sharing the security file with Top Secret r15 and r16 or are going to back out Top Secret r16 to r15, the facility parameters will still need to be maintained on r15 separately in the Top Secret parameter file.)
The BDAM and VSAM security files are paired. You cannot mix and match these. If you use the existing BDAM file, you must also use the existing VSAM file. If you create a new BDAM file, you must also create a new VSAM file.
2) For the Top Secret r15 BDAM and VSAM backup security files: If you allocate new security files (BDAM and VSAM), then you should also allocate new backup security files (BDAM and VSAM).
3) The Top Secret r15 parameter file can be used in r16.
4) The Top Secret r15 recovery file can be used in r16.
5) The Top Secret r15 audit and tracking file(s) can be used in r16.
The mirror security files are optional.
