Running 15.1 job AXRIM01 when multiple 14.1 MUFs running

Issue/Introduction

When upgrading one DATACOM MUF from 14.0 to 15.0/15.1 where there are multiple 14.0 MUFs running must AXRIM01 be run before upgrading the MUF?

If AXRIM01 is not run does this impact the upgrade in any way?

If the CAS9 RIMPARM is not updated with the 15.x version of the CAIRIM PC routines will this have an impact on the upgraded DATACOM?

Resolution

The PC call routines changed between 14.0 and 15.x so you do need to run AXRIM01 before starting the first 15.x MUF.
Running the 15.x will not affect the 14.0 MUF as it will continue to use the 14.0 PC routines.

Also if using XCF, job AXRIM01 needs to be run in the remote LPARs.

If you don't run AXRIM01 or don't update the CAS9 procedure with the 15.x version of the PC routines, the MUF should load the routines at startup but in some cases errors have been reported, see article 197416.
