Allocations Timeline: Widget uses 'Staff Grid' View Options

Issue/Introduction

Although the two Staffing Workspaces are separate, the 'Allocation Timeline' Widgets are using view options from the 'Staff Grid' workspace. Creating a Pie Chart or Bar Chart with Type = 'Sum' that uses a Time Scaled Value (TSV) is using the View Options settings from within the 'Staff Grid' workspace. 

Steps to Reproduce: 

  1. Create a Bar Chart Widget in BOTH 'Allocation Timeline' and 'Staff Grid' with the following configuration:
    • Title: Allocation
    • Type: Sum
    • Group By: Resource (from Staffing Object)
    • Sum: Allocation 
    • Only Include (filter) for Resource = John Smith
  2. Add the widget to the view and enable it to apply any filter to the widget on BOTH workspaces
  3. In BOTH workspaces, set up the same filter for example:
    • Resource = John Smith
    • Finish (Common Investment) > Nov 30, 2021
  4. Set View Options on 'Allocation Timeline'
    • Period Type = Months
    • Period Start = Prior Period
    • Period End = Next Period
    • Totals = Sum of Periods
  5. Set View Options on 'Staff Grid'
    • Period Type = Months
    • Period Start = Start of Current Year
    • Period End = End of Current Year
    • Totals = Sum of Periods
  6. Compare the Bar Chart Widget created on both workspaces 

Expected Results: The Widget on 'Allocation Timeline' should show an allocation amount for Sum of Periods as defined on the View Options in the 'Allocation Timeline' Workspace. 

Actual Results: The Widget on the 'Allocation Timeline' is using the allocation amount for Sum of Periods as defined on the View Options in the 'Staff Grid' workspace. 

Environment

Release 16.0.1 

Cause

DE63899 [Converted to a Story and tracked separately]. 

Workaround: Configure both workspaces 'View Options' to be the same and save views on both workspaces (views are saved separately). 

 

Resolution

Resolved in 16.0.2 

The 'Allocation Timeline' now uses the settings in the View Options on that tab instead of the options on the 'Staff Grid' tab. 

 

Additional Information

After this issue was resolved, a new issue was identified related to this functionality.
