Issue/Introduction

Why the port alarm on the upstream is not visible when the alarm is generated on the downstream device?

Environment

Release : 10.4

Component : Spectrum Alarm & Event Management

Cause

It is a symptomatic alarm, hence it is hidden.

Resolution

1. These are the devices in a Network container. Note that I enabled the Live Links between Router A and Switch B.

2. Settings for the Fault Isolation and Lipe Pipes/Links

3. All devices are up.

4. Shut down devices B.

The alarm is asserted on Device B:

The alarm is also asserted on the Port model of Device A, but it is hidden.

If you want to see the symptomatic alarms, then you have to enable Show Symptoms:
