Something is building up in the COMMDS and eventually becomes full, is there some utility we need to run against it ?

The usual cause of this an extra application has been added or many extra jobs are required to be scheduled.
There is a large influx of jobs for migration type processing.
Try scheduling jobs into smaller batches.
Increase the Dispatch Priority of the ICOM task to see if this improves throughput.
If your batch environment has grown you may need to increase the size of the COMMDS dataset.
If you believe there is a genuine problem, take a DUMP of the ICOM task and forward to Support for further review.
