Multibyte characters are garbled in Migration Xpress.

Issue/Introduction

I tried to migrate my vApp 14.3 environment to vApp 14.4 with Migration Xpress.

 

When I executed Method 2 in Step 2 of the following document and generated a role definition, the multibyte characters were garbled in the generated role definitions.

I also tried to import the generated role definition in the Management Console of the destination vApp, I got an ERROR and the import did not complete normally.

 

Original role name:

            <ImsRole name="RoleNameExample" roletype="PROVISIONING" assignable="true" adminassignable="true" enabled="true" allowduplicatecustom="false">

 

After filterd by migration tool:

            <ImsRole adminassignable="true" allowduplicatecustom="false" assignable="true" enabled="true" name="MΩa█┌B│║-╘" roletype="PROVISIONING">

 

Filter and Import the RoleDefinition and Environment

Component : CA IDENTITY SUITE (VIRTUAL APPLIANCE)

Cause

Migration Xpress doesn't handle multibyte characters correctly.

Resolution

CA Identity Manager Engineering has released a test fix for this issue.

A fix (migration-xpress-jar.zip) has been made available for vApp 14.4 and can be requested from Broadcom Support.
