Issue/Introduction

These disk issues are reported in the system User Interface (UI).  There may be a pink banner in the UI after logging in.

Environment

Dell R630, R730

Cause

This is a bug in the RAID controller firmware. These errors are considered noise and can be ignored.  There is a firmware update which will prevent the messages.

Resolution

There is an update to the PERC H730 RAID controller which diminishes the messages.  The most current firmware level is 25.5.5.0005.  The first firmware release with the fix is 25.5.3.  The update may require a reboot.  It does require that Security Analytics be stopped.  This is specific to the Dell R630 systems.

Downloading and Installing:

  1. The firmware can be pulled from Dell directly from https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us
  2. Enter the Asset Tag of your system.
  3. Select Drivers and Downloads
  4. Enter keyword PERC
  5. Select Operation System Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  6. Find Dell PERC H330
  7. Select Download
  8. Copy the .BIN file to /home on the system.
  9. Login to the CLI as root
  10. Shutdown the application services with 'scotus stop'
  11. Execute the update with: bash /home/SAS-RAID_Firmware_76W42_LN_25.5.5.0005_A11.BIN
  12. Reboot the system if needed.

This was deemed noise by Dell but it does trigger warnings in the pink banner for hardware problems.
