Policy overwrite lost

Issue/Introduction

We have two Dynamic Capacity Intelligence (DCI) policies :

• a default policy with priority 3 active 24/7
• a weekend policy with priority 2 active from Saturday 00:00 till Sunday 24:00

If we define an overwrite (change the Maximum MSU) for a partition on Friday at 18:00 for a duration of 72 hours, the overwrite is only taken into account during 6 hours. When the policy changes on Saturday at 00:00, the overwrite is lost. 

Is there a way for keeping the overwrite for 72 hours instead of 6 hours?

Resolution

That's the correct behaviour of the Overwrite command: it's in effect only till the policy is active, when it changes, then the overwritten value is discarded.

 

Additional Information

Besides re-issuing the Overwrite command after the policy changes, the only way is to duplicate the weekend policy, adjust the MSU value and End Date / Time figures to match the MSU value and the duration of the Overwrite and provide a higher priority than the standard Weekend policy. Then queue it.
