CTSSYNC ERROR -QUERY COMPLETE, VOLUME IN ROBOT OUT OF SYNC: TVIUSEA = S & TVILCAT = ER

Issue/Introduction

When running CTSSYNC the following error is received.  What does the TVIUSEA and TVILCAT codes mean?   How can this error be resolved?  

QUERY COMPLETE, VOLUME IN ROBOT OUT OF SYNC: TVIUSEA = S & TVILCAT = ER

Resolution

The TVIUSEA parameter is related to the TCDB.  With this code of 'S', it means that it thinks the volume is in scratch status; however, the TVILCAT parameter, which is related to the Library Manager (LM), shows code 'ERR' which means the volume is in some kind of error status in the LM.  What can be done to resolve this is: 

1) Check to see if the volume is in SCRATCH status in the CA1 TMC

2) If the volume IS in scratch status in the CA1 TMC, run the CTSSYNC utility with the following control cards: 

PRIVATE,vvvvvv
SCRATCH,vvvvvv

This will normally reset everything so that the CA1 TMC, the TCDB, and the LM are all in sync, and the volume is in scratch status.
