Issue/Introduction

How do I configure the IT Analytics application to use an SSL certificate?

Environment

Release : 2.9.1

Component : Microsoft Internet Information Services

Resolution

To use an SSL certificate with the ITAnalytics application, follow the procedure provided by Microsoft for configuring a site's bindings to use SSL. That procedure is documented here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/iis/manage/configuring-security/how-to-set-up-ssl-on-iis

If you have already generated a self-signed certificate, you can skip to the following section of the document (Create an SSL Binding) and proceed from that point:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/iis/manage/configuring-security/how-to-set-up-ssl-on-iis#create-an-ssl-binding-1

  1. Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
  2. In the left pane under Connections, navigate to <hostname> > Sites > ITAnalytics
  3. In the right pane under Actions > Edit Site, select Bindings...
  4. In the Site Bindings window, click the Add... button
  5. In the Add Site Binding window, select https from the Type dropdown menu
  6. Configure the remaining settings in accordance with your certificate
