Associating java.exe files with clarity services in Windows Task Manager

Issue/Introduction

We notice that as soon as we start the Clarity PPM application's services (such as app, bg, beacon or nsa), a java.exe process gets listed in Windows Task Manager. We want to know how we can identify which service each java.exe process corresponds to.

Resolution

  1. Open Task Manager
  2. Under "Processes" tab, right click on the header (say for example on "Memory")
  3. Select "Command Line" as a column to display
  4. In the string that gets displayed under this column, look for "-Dcom.niku.union.serviceId". This parameter will provide the ID of the service that the java.exe is tied to
