High load - 100% CPU after adding scheduled session log reports

Issue/Introduction

The main node is at 100% CPU and 90% RAM since we added some scheduled session log reports

Release : 3.4.x

Cause

PAM has a CRON job running that checks every minute on whether any scheduled reports need to be run. It is possible that this causes ongoing high CPU usage, if a scheduled report takes more than 1 minute to run, and thus is running still when the next check is performed.

 

Resolution

If the PAM server is a virtual instance and has less than the recommended system resources of 8 CPU and 64GB RAM assigned at present, try increasing the available resources to the recommended settings. If the problem persists, please open a case with PAM Support and reference this KB article.
