Issue/Introduction

With Endpoint Protection for Mac 14.3 RU1 or newer installed, when attempting to update Google Chrome the update fails with error:

"Update failed (error: 12)

 Error details:

 KSInstallAction could not mount update for installation. KSInstallAction could not mount disk image."

Environment

Endpoint Protection for Mac 14.3 RU1 and newer

Cause

During the update, Autoprotect is trying to scan the cache file used for the update and seems to be causing a timeout which causes the update to fail.

Resolution

Create an Autoprotect exclusion for the Google cache folder location:

/Library/Caches/com.google.SoftwareUpdate.0/Downloads/
