Issue/Introduction

Workload Automation CA 7 supplies sample JCL to run DBUTLTY OLREORG (online reorg).

Can OLREORG be run against Workload Automation Restart Option for z/OS Schedulers (CA 11)  DBIDs 601, 2,15 and 16?

Resolution

There is no need to run an online reorg (OLREORG) on Datacom system databases DBIDs 2,15 and 16.

CA 11 does not provide any sample JCL to do an OLREORG. Doing an OLREORG is only required to improve performance in applications doing sequential access. CA 11 uses mainly random access for its database.

To determine if there's a need to run a OLREORG, obtain a Native Sequence Efficiency Report for all tables by running DBUTLTY with REPORT TYPE=DATANE.

A list of all the tables in DBID 601 can be obtained from a DBUTLTY BACKUP report.
