Why are AutoSys agents using the SNMP port 161?

Why would an agent be using the SNMP port 161?

Environment

Release : 11.3.6.x/12.x

Component : CA Workload Automation AE (AutoSys)

Cause

There is an optional SNMP plugin for the agent. If that plugin is enabled, it will be configured to use port 161 by default. The plugin is required if running SNMP job types. 

Resolution

If no SNMP jobs are running on the agent, you can disable the plugin by removing the following parameters from the agentparm.txt file and restarting the agent...

plugins.start_internal_8=snmp

management.snmp.host=XXXX

snmp.trap.listener.port=162

management.connector_1=snmp

management.snmp.agent.trapsink.host=XXXX

management.snmp.agent.port=161

If SNMP jobs are running on the agent, then you cannot disable the plugin. You will need to reconfigure the port used by the agent by modifying the two port parameters above if it is creating a conflict.
