Issue/Introduction

We currently have RMSMASTR, DYNVM and VMTAPE messages being captured by VM:Operator in three separate windows. We would like to combine those messages into one window, selectively filter some of the informational messages and highlight other messages for Tape Operations to be able to control the tape operation more efficiently than by using three separate windows.

The operators use the Operator Console and the tape operators use a VMYIAMOP console.

We would like to retain the VM:Tape window for the VMTAPE processing and create a window for the DYNVM and RMSMASTR messages. What would we have to do to get the VMTAPE window into the same window as the RMSMASTR and DYNVM windows?

Resolution

All three of these user IDs can be configured to send messages to OPERATOR. A SYSTABLE can be coded specifically to handle messages from these three user IDs that are not SECUSERed, but do send messages to OPERATOR. A window can be defined to use this special SYSTABLE. You may lose the special VMTAPE window that runs the TAPEMGR process, but gain the functionality you want.
