Issue/Introduction

what is the Default Siteminder behavior to reconnect a failed  ODBC session store ?

Environment

Release : any siteminder policy server release 

Component : SITEMINDER -POLICY SERVER

Resolution

Policy Server performs Initial connection to ODBC database and gets the handle, there are two cases for Policy Server when it tries to reconnect:

1) Initial boot up if it fails to connect then it will not try to reconnect. a Policy Server restart is required to establish the connection with the ODBC session store 

2) In the case where Policy Server successfully initialized the ODBC session store connection and then in between there is DB down / Failure, Policy Server will retry to reconnect as handle may be old, in hung state or could be other issues with the DB
