Issue/Introduction

The Import/Export rule with Computer to User Association will fail for users who are the primary user of more than one computer. Error for these users is:

  •  Row 1 skipped for association 'Association Name'. Lookup using resource key 'Resource Name' did not find a resource (If the user doesn't exist)

or

  • Row 2 skipped for association ' New Editable Association Type'. Lookup using resource key 'Resource Name' found multiple matches. (If the user is primary user of more than one machine, like administrator in the below example)

Scenario:

  • Import a data source of computers and users
    • Settings> All Settings> Notification Server> Connector> Data Source >> Right click and choose NEW to import the data source
  • Create the Computer to User Association
    • Settings> All Settings> Notification Server> Resource and Data Class Settings> Resource Associations >> Right click and create the new editable association (Computer to User)
  • Create a Import/export rule to import computers
    • Settings> All Settings> Notification Server> Connector> Import/Export Rules >> Right click and choose create new data source then import the list of computers with users
    • In the created rule, select the appropriate fields and choose the Computer to User we created in the previous step
  •

If in the association look up key we choose Resource Name, the rule will fail for the users who don't exist in server or the users who are primary user of more than one computer.

Environment

Release : 8.x

Cause

Import Export rule cannot find the unique user and can't create a new one without having the Domain information

Resolution

  • Please add another column to your Data Source and put the Domain name there.
  • Then in resource associations, choose 'User UserId/Domain' and select username and domain in the right side.
  • Then the connector should work without any error.
