As an administrator, I am unable to uninstall the WSS Agent (WSSA) from macOS devices silently or unattended as the users get prompted to enter credentials to remove the Symantec WSSA System Extension:
The WSSA client is a macOS Network Extension.
In macOS Big Sur, macOS does NOT support the "silent uninstall" functionality (Big Sur requires a user password to uninstall Network Extensions).
macOS Monterey (and later) now supports the "silent uninstall" functionality, per the instructions below.
Configure the following settings in your MDM to support "silent install":
System Extension Types:
Removable System Extensions
Team Identifier:
<Identifier value>
System Extension Identifier (for "Removable System Extensions"):
com.symantec.wssa.wssax
In macOS Monterey (and later), the latest macOS versions now support the capability to silently uninstall Network Extensions (like WSSA) when using an MDM.
Note: macOS Big Sur does NOT support the "silent uninstall" functionality.
In macOS Monterey (and later), you would configure your MDM by setting the System Extension Type to:
Removable System Extensions
...and setting the Team Identifier to:
<Identifier value>
Adding these options will skip the user prompt during the uninstallation process (when uninstalled via the MDM).
