Issue/Introduction

SNMPv3 discovery fails when trying to discover a new Checkpoint FW we have in our infrastructure. Our Engineers are able to snmpwalk the device remotely via command line. However, PM is unable to discover this FW.

The device uses SHA 256 for the Authentication Protocol and AES 256 for the Privacy Protocol.

The device does not support the basic SHA protocol.

The SNMP Profile edit UI in the PC Portal doesn't provide a SHA 256 option for the Authentication Protocol.

DX NetOps Performance Management release r20.2.8 is in use.

Environment

DX NetOps Performance Management releases r20.2.8 and earlier

Cause

DX NetOps Performance Management releases r20.2.8 and earlier do not support SHA 256 for the SNMPv3 Authentication Protocol.

Resolution

DX NetOps Performance Management first added support for the SHA 256 Authentication Protocol in the r20.2.9 release.

Upgrade to the latest release for full SNMPv3 support.
