Issue/Introduction

This article addresses issues where the "MainConsoleLogoutUrl" configuration setting fails to redirect users upon logout, causing the interface to revert to the default Symantec logout screen.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5 & 15

Cause

The failure to redirect is typically caused by one of the following:

  • Case Sensitivity: The "MainConsoleLogoutUrl" property is case-sensitive. If the property name is not entered exactly as specified, the system ignores the setting.
  • Browser Caching: The browser may cache the default logout page, preventing the new redirect URL from loading.

Resolution

Follow these steps to correctly configure the logout redirect URL.

  1. Log in to the Identity Manager Management Console as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to Environments, select your specific environment, and click Advanced Settings.
  3. Select Miscellaneous.
  4. In the Property field, enter the following case-sensitive string:
    • MainConsoleLogoutUrl
  5. In the Value field, enter the full URL for your desired redirect (e.g., http://www.broadcom.com).
  6. Click Save.
  7. Restart the environment for the changes to take effect.
  8. Verify the redirect by logging into the Identity Manager User Console and selecting Sign Out.

Additional Information

If the redirect still does not function as expected, ensure you have configured custom logout pages to prevent browser caching, as described in the Product Documentation - 14.5 or Product Documentation - v15
