ERROR: cannot start IAM Password Tools Please, specify JAVA_HOME variable in this batch file

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to run the password tool, the following error message is seen in the command prompt

 

Environment

Release : 14.x

Component : Identity Manager

Cause

JAVA_HOME is not set correctly and therefore java.exe cannot be executed

Resolution

Set Windows environment variable of JAVA_HOME to be the path to the main Java folder, ie
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_241

Do not include any sub folders below the main version folder
