Resolution

When the URL section is locked - it is filled with information from inventory sent by the site server. No core settings are available to control this behavior.

When unlocked - you can enter whatever you want, inventory is ignored. While a user unlocks this control, modifies it, and then locks again discarding all changes that were made. Just unlock it, remove the short name, and then save the settings.

If you will unlock it and remove the short name - agents will receive an updated profile and will use the remaining name.
On agents where the short name can't be resolved - FQDN will be used anyway. If FQDN cannot be resolved then the agent will try using the short name and if it can be resolved the agent UI page will still show the short name.

Do you know if there is any way to change this back from the collected inventory or by changing the inventory so the short name is not sent?

On the server side, it can't be limited. Code collects "hostname"s from Inv_AeX_AC_TCPIP, Inv_AeX_AC_TCPIPv6, and "FQDN" from Inv_AeX_AC_Identification.
