Open Workbench: "Cannot start or find the Java 1.8 JRE"

Issue/Introduction

After launching Open Workbench (OWB) installed from the Clarity install media, the following error message appears:

"Cannot start or find the Java 1.8 JR (x). The 1.8 JRE may not have been installed or the registry may be incorrect."

This is regardless of the presence of Java 8 (or any other Java version) in the system.

Cause

"CA PPM Schedule Connect" may not be installed. Both components are required:

Resolution

The install media offers OWB and Schedule Connect as two separate installers. However, the OWB installer as downloaded from Clarity (Home > Personal > Account Settings > Software Downloads > Open Workbench (x86)) "bundles" both OWB and Schedule Connect.

If only OWB has been installed, it is necessary to also install Schedule Connect. In the downloaded media, it is the "<ISO>\Clients\ScheduleConnect\scheduleconnectsetup.exe" (NOT the scheduleconnectsetup_x64.exe). Also, ensure that the private JRE option is checked when installing Schedule Connect (keep the default install options).
