SiteMinder health monitor is not starting

Issue/Introduction

After a system patch update, the SiteMinder health monitor did not start. The smps.log file has the following error messages:

[ERROR][sm-Server-02740] (IPCPR  ) > Control block; can't create control block instance.

[ERROR][sm-Server-02740] (IPCPR  ) > IPC provider; Cannot create control block.

[ERROR][sm-Server-02740] (CONAPI ) > Channel; error initializing channe provider, code=-4

Component : SITEMINDER -POLICY SERVER

Cause

The Java update on the windows system removed the existing Java version folder. The java related SiteMinder environment variables were not valid as they were pointing to a folder that does not exist anymore after the Java update.

Resolution

Updating the SiteMinder environment variables related to Java location to the current Java/JDK folder will resolve this issue.
