Concurrent sessions from the same Encryption Management Server administrator account are not logged

Issue/Introduction

Each time an administrator account logs into Encryption Management Server, an entry is written to the Reporting / Logs / Administration log in the administration console.

However, if the same account logs in concurrently, no alert is generated.

Environment

Symantec Encryption Management Server release 10.5 MP2 and below.

Resolution

Upgrade to release 10.5 MP3 or above.

Starting in release 10.5 MP3, if the same administrator account logs on concurrently, an alert appears in the notifications area of the Reporting / Overview page of the administration console:

In the Reporting / Logs / Administration log, a notification entry like this is written:

2 concurrent sessions for the Administrator admin

Note that the alert and log entry are not generated if an administrator logs in more than once from different tabs of the same web browser.
