"URL Reputation" is not working with Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox.

Issue/Introduction

"URL Reputation" option is added to Intrusion Prevention policy from Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14.3 RU1.
Access to following URL should be blocked and detected as SID 60501, but it is not blocked or detected with Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox.

  URL for testing "URL Reputation": http://testrating.webfilter.bluecoat.com/Malicious%20Sources/Malnets?locale=en_US

 

Status of "URL Reputation" option can be checked at following menu.

Menu on SEP Client:
[Change Settings] > [Configure Settings] of "Network and Host Exploit Mitigation" > [Intrusion Prevention]

 

Menu on Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM):
[Clients] > select the client group > [Policies] > open edit window of "Intrusion Prevention policy" > [Intrusion Prevention]

 

Environment

Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 RU1 or later

Browser:

• Microsoft Edge (and Edge Chromium-based)
• Mozilla Firefox

Resolution

Mozilla Firefox is not a supported browser of URL reputation.
Microsoft Edge is supported from 14.3Ru8 and later.
