Issue/Introduction

When running multiple archive subtasks concurrently under Dispatch you may intermittently receive the following dynamic allocation error:

DC970029 Dynamic Allocation Error, RC = 004, Error = 00528, Info = 00000

Resolution

When executing more than one Archive task concurrently the above error can be received if the ARCHIVE DSN PREFIX values defined for each of the 3 archive subtasks (on their individual VSGMU215 screens) are not unique.

This error occurs because the requested data set is unavailable. The same data set name is already allocated to one of the other Archive tasks.

To avoid contention with duplicate file names when using multiple archive tasks, we suggest that unique qualifiers (such as ARCH1, ARCH2, ARCH3) be added to the DSN prefix defined on the VSGMU215 Screen. Be sure to modify your security rules to allow processing with any revised prefix named file.
