Issue/Introduction

Recover from lost or forgotten "admin" password or enable password on Management Center appliance

Reset the enable password Management Center via console.

Resolution

If you have a Hardware Management Center product, you will need physical access to the device and connect to the serial console port of the appliance directly from a workstation.

If you own a Virtual Appliance Management Center product, you will need to connect to the host console of the VM to perform this.

Once connected, please go through the wizard setup. Select first the option 2 "Setup Console":

It will then ask you what interface to configure. All the defaults should load, so you can simply hit enter through this section:

In the next section you will be asked about passwords. When it asks about changing the enable password, select Yes, and enter the new enable password:

Now, go through the rest of the setup wizard and finish. Once finished, the new configured enable password will be valid.

Additional Information

If "admin" credentials and enable password still known and you simply need to change either or both of them, you could do so via SSH under config terminal mode:

Sample commands:

en

configure terminal

authentication password

authentication enable-password
