How does NFA reacts to device / router IP address change?
NFA any versions
Change IPAddress of devices and impact
In NFA, every device's IP address is considered to represent a separate, unique device. In the case of routers or switches being assigned different IP addresses than those used in NFA, the product assumes each new IP is a new device, and so NFA attempts to use up additional interface licenses to create these new entries in the database.
There is no option to change the Device IP Address, so you can to preserve the old Device IP Address for historical purposes.
Also there is no option to merge the old Device IP Address to the new Device IP Address, the merge is used for interfaces belonging to a single device and in this case if the license limit for NFA is close to the maximum, you should merge the old interfaces to the new interfaces Each merge has the option of deleting the old interface from the database to release a license. This allows the data pump on NFA to pump in additional interfaces with the new IP address. Continue this process until all affected interfaces have been merged.
