Issue/Introduction

This article describes the configuration requirements for connecting a single AutoSys Agent to both an on-premises AutoSys server and a cloud-based AutoSys instance. This configuration allows a single agent to manage workloads across hybrid environments.

Environment

  • AutoSys Workload Automation
  • Workload Automation Agent

Resolution

To connect a single AutoSys Agent to both an on-premises server and a cloud instance, complete the following steps:

  1. Verify Communication: Ensure network connectivity between the Agent and the cloud instance is open. Configure firewalls to allow traffic on the required Agent port. For detailed instructions on firewall configuration, see Configure the Firewall.
  2. Confirm Instance Names: Ensure the on-premises and cloud AutoSys instances utilize unique instance names to prevent naming conflicts.
  3. Define Machine: Add the machine definition to the cloud instance using JIL (Job Information Language).
  4. Security Groups: Verify that security groups on the cloud platform (AWS or Azure) are configured to permit the necessary traffic. See Enable Ports on AWS or Microsoft Azure Security Group for guidance.

Note: Agent and AutoSys version compatibility does not impact this configuration.
