When using a DLP response rule to suggest or enforce MIP labels. The notifications from Word/Excel/PowerPoint only display for a brief moment.
DLP uses the windows notification center and we must abide by the OS setting for how long to display notifications for.

This can be altered on the local endpoint as follows:
Click Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Other options. Click on the “Show notifications for” list box, then choose an appropriate time interval. You can choose from 5 seconds, 7 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 5 minutes.
If you wish to change this for all endpoints, it can be done via GPO
