Issue/Introduction

Please provide additional information/descriptions of the data_engine raw config parameters.

daily_avg_age = 744
raw_data_extra = 30
daily_avg_age_extra = 30
history_avg_age_extra = 30 
delete_history_samples = 180
delete_raw_samples = 90

I want to reduce the retention to 30 days raw and 90 historic but I see also daily information. We want be sure before deleting too much data.

Please review the data_engine raw config parms.xlsx which is attached to this KB Article.

The DN* tables will not store any data if the daily_avg_age setting is not properly set. In order for daily_avg_age to store data, the setting value must be 'greater than' the delete_history_samples.

Also note that in general, if you reduce the number of days too aggressively, ore than a few days at a time, it often causes the delete job to hang (which affects the DB), or take a very long time to finish.

You can try deleting rows from daily_avg_age (the DN* tables) in increments of 20-25 (days). If you try to reduce it more aggressively, it may take a very long time or the delete job may hang.
