Issue/Introduction

Plugin "Software Delivery manager: installation manager (sdmgr_im)" is crashing few minutes after start.

In Windows Event Viewer Application there are following Application Error :

Faulting application name: sd_taskm.exe, version: 14.0.3000.725, time stamp: 0x5d792633
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.19724, time stamp: 0x5ec50c3e
Exception code: 0xe06d7363
Fault offset: 0x000156e8
Faulting process id: 0x731c
Faulting application start time: 0x01d7db94ee9d9616
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\Bin\sd_taskm.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\KERNELBASE.dll

 

In TRC_USD_INSTMAN*.log last lines before crash are :

Cause

This problem could occur if there is a CAM communication problem from Domain to the scalability server :

Example : Resolution Name problem

Resolution

1- Check in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\SD\ASM\DATABASE" if there are a corrupted or very big file *.jrack
 
Example :
Problem was seen with the file  C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\SD\ASM\DATABASE\7F234CFB-93C2-4AB0-90F4-FF395B62B712.jrack
Its size is 95 527 513 bytes and it contains 789677 lines.
 
 
2- Rename (or delete) the big/corruped file C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\SD\ASM\DATABASE\<uuid>.jrack as <uuid>.jrack.old
Do the same with file C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\SD\ASM\DATABASE\<uuid>.appack  (rename as <uuid>.appack.old)
 
3- Start sdgrm_im
caf start sdmgr_im
 
4- And check in TRC_USD_INSTMAN*.log if there are some communication/resolution error for the scalability server with problem.
