Issue/Introduction

The ok_to_poll attribute on some interfaces was previously set to Yes but later on was observed to be No. How is this possible when no user manually changes it?

Environment

DX NetOps Spectrum 20.2 or later

Resolution

There are several ways in which the ok_to_poll attribute can be changed without direct user intervention:

  1. When a port connection is made, then Spectrum will set both ports’ ok_to_poll attributes to their MTE default values as per:

TechDocs : DX NetOps Spectrum 10.4.3 : Receiving Port Alarms

  2. If a Live Link has been disabled, then ok_to_poll will be set to NO, as per:

TechDocs : DX NetOps Spectrum 10.4.3 : Enable or Disable a Live Link

  3. If a change is made to a Policy affecting a Global Collection of which this interface is a part where ok_to_poll is set to NO.

  4. If you run the NewMM.pl script then it can set the ok_to_poll attribute on the interfaces of models that are not correctly set with regards to Model_Type.
