Issue/Introduction

Symantec Protection Engine for SharePoint Services (SPSS) Registration Fails with Error Code : 4198

Error message that appears while registering:

Errors were found on the page. The destination server did not answer inside of a timeout frame. Error ID : 4168

Error in SPSS System log:

spss+"-1", "Error", Cannot connect to host or IP Address. the requested address is not valid......

 

Environment

Release : 6.1.0

Component : NA

Cause

Possible reasons:

• License invalid
• SPSS Service is not running

Note : Even if the service is running, restart it and check if it stays started.

Resolution

Restarted the SPSS service and tried registering, successful.

The SPSS Service was in running state.

Even if the SPSS service is started and running, restart it and try registering.
