Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to the Jaspersoft 7.8, the formats for some reports are not working as expected when attaching the report to the email.
The users are supposed to receive email with the report attached as a PDF and XLS file, however it is coming attached like the following example:

UTF-8QAffectations=5Fressource=5Fpar=5Ft=C3=A2che=5FDAJ=5FQC=2Exls=

When changing the file extension to PDF or XLS file, it does open.

Resolution

This is reported in the Jaspersoft community and as a defect JS-57006: Scheduled Report attachment filename is corrupt when name contains accented chars

Schedule report with long report name containing accented characters results in email with bad filename attachment

 

Workaround:

1. Locate catalina.properties file under \apache-tomcat\conf directory;
2. Add the following setting to the file:
   mail.mime.splitlongparameters=false
3. Save the change, restart the server, and test run a report job to see the result.
4. Try this with a new report job and special characters > 30
