Symantec Encryption Management Server Unhandled Exception in OMC Could not initialize

Issue/Introduction

After an update is applied, the following exception may appear:

"Unhandled exception in OMC: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.pgp.data.WholeDiskStatisticTool
EXCEPTION STACK TRACE:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.pgp.data.WholeDiskStatisticTool
     at com.pgp.omc.AdminOverviewScreen.streamGraphImage

 

Resolution

If the above error appears, try to find out when the exception occurred and does it produce any errors in the PGP Server UI itself.

If no errors are produced in the UI and this error does not reappear, it is benign.  In one case, this was observed after an update, but the error never reappeared.
