Issue/Introduction

In some cases it is required to either manually fail or unfail a segment on the SSLV. These might include during a maintenance window, troubleshooting activity or functionality testing.

Resolution

Manually failing or unfailing a segment can be accomplished via the SSLV CLD or web UI. Note that the failure action, Fail To Wire or Disable Interfaces, is controlled by the Failure Action configured in the Segment Options.

WebUI:
From the UI, log into the appliance and navigate to the Monitor -> Dashboard screen. In the top right section there is a Segment Status panel that lists the Segment ID, Interfaces, Mode and Failure Status. There are also some icons that look like plugs which are used to fail or unfail a segment.

To manually fail a segment select the Segment ID and the press the Force Failure plug icon.

To manually unfail a segment select the Segment ID and the press the Manually Unfail plug icon

CLD:
From the SSH or Serial console, log into the SSLV CLD and list the segments.

> en
Password:

# cld

admin> segment list
Segment A: no failure
Segment B: no failure

To manually fail a segment type the command segment fail and specify the segment.

admin> segment fail A
Segment A failed successfully.

To manually unfail a segment type the command segment unfail and specify the segment.

admin> segment unfail A
Segment A unfailed successfully.
