Customers often inquire about which specific archive file types are compatible with the "Request password and extract files" feature in Web Isolation. This article outlines the supported archive formats and provides clarity on the feature's behavior.

 

Environment

Product: Web Isolation / Web Isolation Cloud
Feature: Request password and extract files
Isolation Mode: Required

Resolution

The "Request password and extract files" feature applies exclusively to archive file types. The following archive types are supported:

.tgz
.gtar
.gz
.z
.zip
.gzip
.tar
.wim
.rar

Additional Information

Isolation Mode: The password request flow currently functions only with isolation mode and is not supported in inspect mode.

Non-Archive Files: A password is not required for running policy on non-archive password-protected files, such as protected PDF files. There is no limitation to password protection on non-archive file types.

Scanner Requirements: The system only prompts the user to input a password for non-archive types if a scanner specifically requires it.
