Issue/Introduction

We have some services that rather than being load balanced, have a DNS SRV record lookup to find the active endpoint. In order to monitor the availability of these services correctly with ASM, the ASM monitor would need to run an SRV lookup to find the IPs/ports to connect to, and then send an API request to each one (or maybe just one). It's possible that this might be achievable using Jmeter, but we don't know.  Ideally we would like the functionality built in to ASM.

Environment

Release : SAAS

Component : APP SYNTHETIC MONITOR ENVIRONMENTAL

Resolution

There is no workaround in ASM for the very first step - to request the SRV entries. They'd have to monitor the services but could not check if the DNS entries correspond. Even if there was some workaround in jmeter, beanshell would be necessary and the service could be monitored on OPMS only.
