COMMON SERVICES FOR Z/OS

Issue/Introduction

You just installed a Common Components and Services for z/OS (CCS) 15.0 PTF for a machine upgrade.

How can you verify that CAMASTER has used the correct CATARGHW module during/after the IPL?

Resolution

Two methods to verify whether expected version of CATARGHW was loaded for current hardware:

  1. You will NOT see the following message in the system logrec. Where 'xxxx' is the machine type associated with the hardware.

    CATHW03W machine type xxxx unknown

  2. You can browse module CATARGHW (found from a link list search) and do a find for 'machine type'. Following this you will see the string of hardware machine types defined. Look for the machine type that was added by the installed PTF.
