Data collector will not start, shows in DA as note connected

Resolution

Antivirus was locking files and slowing down the system.

If you see the antivirus software taking a high CPU, try stopping this to verify its impact.

Note the Data Collector installation directory should be omitted from scanning:

 "To avoid database corruption of ActiveMQ broker files, exclude the installation directory, and all its subdirectories, from antivirus scans. Prevent scanning by a local instance of an antivirus client and scanning by a remote antivirus instance"
