Issue/Introduction

Accidentally deleted Endevor Web Service CSIQUSSM file,  all the Web Service USS files are gone, how to recover those USS files ?

Environment

Endevor 18.1 ONLY

Endevor Web Services

Resolution

If the Endevor WS ZFS filesystem mount point is not permanent, you could notice the missing Endevor web services USS files after the system IPL.

When this happens, just remount the ZFS filesystem, there is NO need to rerun SCM03ALU job.

Those installation jobs such as SCM03ALU, SCM06MKD, SCM15CSU should only run once during the
product installation.

However, if you delete WS ZFS filesystem CSIQUSSM by accident, try the following steps to recover the missing USS files.

  • Do a SMP/E install for product Endevor (CSIQI00 and CSIQI13) on a seperate CSI 181B (or seperate target zone), and apply PTFs to bring maintenance level the same as 181A (where CSIQUSSM get deleted).
  • Allocate CSIQUSSM, mount the ZFS filesystem, create directory structure by running customized SAMPJCL(SCM03ALU), and SAMPJCL(SCM06MKD) on 181A.
  • Create a tar file of entire 181B mount point and subdirs, untar it to 181A mount point directory.
    •    tar -cvf ESCM.tar -C /181B/ESCM ( use -C for short relative path name)
    •    su
    •    tar -xvf ESCM.tar  -C /181A/ESCM
  • Test make sure can apply Web Services maintenance to CSI 181A after the ZFS file system restore.
