Issue/Introduction

Document detailing how to configure Daylight Saving time zone updates, to account for the clock change.

Environment

Applicable to all releases of CA Business Service Insight, from 5.0 onwards to 8.3.5.

Cause

CA Business Service Insight requires the changes in this document to be performed prior to the Daylight Saving switch. While many time zones will have preset information loaded, the exact dates for your local time zone may not be present, or Governments may decide to make changes to the date of the change. In this circumstance, you should update the information accordingly.

Resolution

In the BSI application the Daylight saving is defined under the Time Zone definition. This definition will affect the entities that are defined with this time zone, such as: GUI (according to the user time zone), PSL calculations (time zone of the metrics), etc.

The daylight saving in the GUI should be defined for each time zone that is different from UTC (usually represented as GMT in the GUI).

To access the Time Zones Settings options, click Administration, select Site Settings, and select Time Zones. The Time Zones page opens.

From the Time Zones page, you have the options of searching for, viewing, duplicating, modifying, or deleting a Time Zone. Click the ‘Find’ drop-down arrow, enter the time zone item, and click Search to find the one you wish to modify.

Next, click the View Details (eye) icon that is next to the Time Zone name. The control buttons from the view panel allow you to return to the main page, edit the entry, or delete the entry.

From the Time Zones page, click the Edit (pencil) icon that is next to the Time Zone name. This will then display the relevant offsets from GMT and applicable dates, which can be edited accordingly. Update the entry and click Save.

Finally, ensure that your adapters have the appropriate time zone selected. In order to define the adapter’s time zone, go to Configuration -> Adapters in the GUI. When editing/adding an adapter, it is mandatory to specify the time zone.
