Issue/Introduction

Upgrading ESP Workload Automation ESP, is it required to use the RELOAD parameter at startup?

 

Environment

Component: ESP WORKLOAD AUTOMATION

Cause

After applying maintenance how do you ensure ESP is started with correct load modules loaded in CSA.

Resolution

The ESP STC needs to start with the RELOAD option if: 
   - You are upgrading ESP from one release to another without an IPL. 
   - You are applying specific maintenance that requires new core modules to be refreshed.  

Starting ESP with the RELOAD option causes all ESP modules residing in the CSA to be re-loaded (that is, control blocks are re-initialized). 
This is required on the master and all proxy systems.

If you start ESP after an IPL, then the RELOAD option is not required.
