Issue/Introduction

It was noticed that the "Evt_NS_Replication_Rule_Objects" table grows up to two billion rows in a couple of days during Replication.

NOTE: The Altiris Adminstrator was truncating this table on a daily basis as a workaround.

Environment

ITMS 8.5 RU4, 8.6, 8.6 RU1

Cause

Known issue.

Resolution

Enhancements to purge this table were added to the ITMS 8.6 RU2 release.

A new Core Setting option called "ReplicationJobEventsMode" was created. When set to "1", it will skip problematic events being generated. The default setting is '0'.

The "ReplicationJobEventsMode" Core Setting option isn't available by default, so you'll need to add it manually from SMP Console  found under the Settings > All Settings > Notification Server > Core Settings page.
If the "ReplicationJobEventsMode" = "1" then the Complete, Differential, or Stand-alone replications will not produce events in the "Evt_NS_Replication_Rule_Objects" sql table.

A pointfix for customers with ITMS 8.5 RU4 is available under KB 198337 "CUMULATIVE POST-ITMS 8.5 RU4 POINT FIXES". This pointfix needs to be installed on Parent and Child SMP servers.  You will need to restart the "Altiris Service".
