Manager.err log file in DCS secondary server (Tomcat-only) is taking up a lot of disk space

Issue/Introduction

Manager.err log file located in installation directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Data Center Security Server\Server is getting very large which is causing a free disk space issue in the DCS manager

Cause

Checking the messages recorded in this file, you may see errors related to connection issue to the Database server where the DCS database is located

The messages keep being recorded until the connection issue with the Database server is fixed

 

Resolution

- Stop the DCS service

- Rename the manager.err file to manager.old (or move the file off the system if disk space is a concern)

- After fixing the connection issue with the database, start the DCS manager service

- A new manager.err will be created, inspect the file to ensure no connection errors are logged
