Issue/Introduction

Added 3 new Package Servers to an ITMS 8.5 RU4 environment.  Packages are not downloading to the Package Servers and the following message is seen in the SMP Console:

Spanish Message: El servidor de paquetes está configurado para proporcionar HTTP\HTTPS\UNC bases de código, pero solo proporciona UNC. Compruebe el registro de clientes en este Servidor de paquetes para obtener más detalles.

English Translation: The package server is configured to provide HTTP \ HTTPS \ UNC code bases, but only provides UNC. Check the client registry on this Package Server for more details.

 

The a.logs on the Notification Server included lots of error messages like the following:

Failed to download package '{EEADE8AA-3358-8C51-F0A9-6A082FD8DA95}' from: <NSserver>.local/Altiris/PackageShare/pkggroup_ahtu4mav23/MS18-01-OFF/%7b67ed7277-31ba-44aa-ba5c-a6630b8a5eb3%7d, local blocks: 0/1, error: HTTP status 404: The requested URL does not exist on the server or the server is down (0x8FA10194)

Failed to download package '{EEADE8AA-3358-8C51-F0A9-6A082FD8DA95}' from: \\<NSserver>.local\NSSWD_pkggroup_ahtu4mav23$\MS18-01-OFF\{67ed7277-31ba-44aa-ba5c-a6630b8a5eb3}, local blocks: 0/1, error: The network path was not found (0x80070035)

Cause

IIS on all 3 new Package Servers had been installed without some of the required Roles and Features

Resolution

Checked the IIS configuration on all 3 new Package Servers and verified that some of the required Roles and Features were missing so they were added as outlined in the following KB to resolve this issue:
