PDSMAN EMPTY FUNCTION (EMPTYO) does it reset the directory blocks?

Issue/Introduction

Is a pds compress (IEBCOPY) recommended after performing the PDSMAN EMPTY function? 

PGM=PDSM10,PARM=EMPTYO

 

Environment

Release : 7.7

Component : CA-PDSMAN for OS/390

Resolution

EMPTYO will remove all the directory blocks also.

It will rewrite the directory blocks with null values and then set the last written block so the next member written will be just after the last directory.

All is good, no reason to use IEBCOPY after using EMPTYO
